QPI Champions Leading National Foster Care Change

In March 2020, YLC launched the QPI Champions program with a goal of investing in the leadership of local community members, and those with lived experience, so that they can advocate for practice and policy changes in their own communities to ensure every child receives excellent parenting. “QPI Champions” are local advocates who YLC trains over a 6-month period in QPI values, theory, and system change techniques. These champions, including agency staff, foster and kinship parents, birth parents, and youth, form a strong team and work together to implement QPI in their local communities. QPI Champions are now working in 6 states (Florida, Nevada, Connecticut, Minnesota, New Mexico and Kansas) to improve the experiences of children in care. Next year YLC will continue to train more champions in those states and introduce the Champions program to California and Philadelphia. By June 2022, QPI will have over 250 Champion graduates leading change efforts across the country!
